During their 2018 Annual Awards Dinner and Leadership Conference, the Jewish Institute for National Security of America presented their Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson Distinguished Service Award to Secretary of State of the United States, Michael R. Pompeo. The event included a Q&A with the Secretary as well as participation from Senators Lindsay Graham , Tom Cotton and other dignitaries.

As the lead on this account, Hughes managed all aspects of event public relations for this annual dinner, which was a unique opportunity to elevate the JINSA brand by generating earned media around the dignitaries speaking at a critical time for our nation’s national security and global diplomacy

  • Coordinated event logistics with the JINSA team to ensure all on-site media needs are met and all public proceedings remain accessible to any reporters or producers willing to cover the event

  • Drafted and distributed media advisory detailing the event and press logistics for members of the media

  • Launched a full-scale media relations push to ensure our team spoke with every reporter, producer or editor that might be interested in covering the event and fielded RSVPS for those who wished to attend

  • Worked with key stakeholders including the United States State Department and offices of the participating United States Senators to ensure messaging was consistent across channels

  • Handled all on-site media relations and press logistics, including offering exclusive conversations to attending journalists with JINSA’s President, Dr. Michael Makovsky.
